Tanya Soman is the Founding Partner of Southpaw Capital, an early stage investor and LP investing in diverse founders building unique solutions. The Southpaw portfolio includes thematic emerging funds and early stage companies across HealthTech, FinTech, and AI. After nearly a decade in Silicon Valley, she spun out and launched Southpaw in Los Angeles.
Prior to founding Southpaw, Tanya built the flagship accelerator program at 500 Startups, one of the most active seed-stage VC firms in the world, where she invested in +200 companies, ran a dozen accelerator cohorts, and taught venture education at UC Berkeley and Stanford. She has also worked with corporations like Mozilla, Facebook, and Sephora to launch CVC investment programs and support the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Tanya holds a BS in business management from Babson College and is a proud Brooklyn native. Outside of work, you can usually find her boxing.
